Early childhood is a very important period in the development of our kids and the learning experiences in this stage have a major impact on their personal, cognitive and social development. Kids start developing their personality and behavior in these early years and build the bases for their independence, creativity, self esteem, knowledge and social interaction among many others skills.
In My Little Town, I guide the kids through a process of learning-based play that allows them to actively explore their surroundings while developing their cognitive, emotional, social, language and fine/gross motor skills.
The main goal of my day home is to have fun, develop social skills, and encourage creative expression. I will utilize a variety of activities to accomplish this goal: Free play, storie time, arts and crafts, numbers, ABC, music/singing, dancing, dramatic play/pretend, puzzles and age appropriate movies are just some of the activities we will be doing (movies will be presented once a month on Fridays for a maximum of 2 hours).
I provide breakfast and 2 healthy snacks. Beverages and meals will have a focus on good nutrition and the kids will be seated while eating and drinking (menus are available to the parents). A nap time is also part of our day.
Spanish:
There is no better time to learn a new language than during the early years and thatโs why I will be teaching Spanish to the kids everyday during one of our circle times.
Kids are developing language skills rapidly, and they quickly absorb whatever they hear. Research has demonstrated improved ability to communicate, better cognitive development, richer cultural awareness and, ultimately, better job opportunities for those who know a second language.
Learning languages helps increase listening ability, memory, creativity and critical thinking, all of which are thinking processes that increase learning in general. The earlier the better!!! Don't miss out on the prime time of your child's development to provide your child with a lifetime of language skills.
Birthdays:
Each child's birthday is his/her "Special Day." I will make every effort (treats, small party, etc.) to recognize your childโs big day. You are welcome to bring a birthday cake and come and celebrate with your child and the group.
Last but not the least, I also follow the Family Day Home Standards Manual for Alberta and have a handbook with details of the program for the parents upon request.
